The enrichment room was established in 2016 by the Hagshama NPO, and serves as a computer room, game library, and book library. The room is customized and accessible to all kindergarten children, and hosts class, group and individual activities.
Computers
The use of computers in our times is a vital, necessary tool for optimal integration into society.
Activity in the computer room is conducted either in small groups or individually. The computer room offers the kindergarten children enjoyable, experiential activity corresponding to the study requirements, with emphasis on maximum accessibility to needs such as: Customized mouse and keyboard, hand and head switches, an adjustable screen, and more.
Each child visiting the computer room is provided with a customized plan corresponding to his age, needs, abilities and difficulties, in coordination with the kindergarten teacher.
Library
In the children’s library they listen to stories on customized sofas, and choose a book to borrow and take home with them. The children come to the library in groups for common activity supervised by the kindergarten teachers. The library is equipped with illustration kits of various books, for use by the kindergarten teachers and therapists, and to develop language skills.
The book cabinets are transparent and the books marked with large letters to help in development of reading skills.
Game library
Ha’Gan Ha’Shikumi has a unique project for lending of games – The Gamery.
Engaging in games helps develop a variety of skills – motor, cognitive, emotional, social, thinking skills, and more.
Every two weeks, the kindergarten children borrow games to take home with them. The Gamery enables continued exposure to a variety of games, and gives a deliberate opportunity for important game time of a child with his parents or siblings, with professional guidance from the occupational therapist and kindergarten teacher, and customization of the game to the personal needs of each child.
